Audio interview with Peter Williams, the author of a Sceptic's Guide to Atheism

Hear this interview with Christian philosopher Peter Williams, the author of the excellent book A Sceptic's Guide to Atheism (you can buy this book from this website)

Being a non-Christian, but as someone ethically and intellectually opposed to atheistic materialism, secular humanism and metaphysical naturalism, and strongly sympathetic to spirituality in general, supporter of dualism and curious about Christian philosophy, I consider Williams' book the best current critical examination (by a trained philosopher) of contemporary atheism.

I hope to write a long and detailed review of William's book in some moment, because there is much food for thought in it and I have some constructive philosophical criticism to it too. But a justification of these criticisms would require to write a full review with quotes from Williams's book, to make justice to his case and avoid misrepresentations and cavils.

Honestly, I think Christians, non-Christians, agnostics and even open mind atheists will benefit greatly from a careful reading of and hard thinking about Williams' excellent book.

Evidence for God or for a supreme creative cosmic intelligence? You be the judge

In these videos, John Polkinghorne, David Wilkinson, Rodney Holder, Peter Williams and Graham Swinerd discuss the scientific evidence which suggest the universe points out to the reality of some intelligent creator or God (or spiritual realm, if you want).

Watch the videos with an open, unbiased and critical mind, and be the judge.

Evidence of the Afterlife: The Science of Near-Death Experiences by Jeffrey Long and Paul Perry

I'm currently reading the book "The science of near-death experiences" by oncologist Jeffrey Long and Paul Perry.

I think this book is an important contribution to the NDEs literature.

In the website of Time magazine, you can read an interesting interview with Dr.Long.

Some excerpts of the interview with Dr.Long:

How do you respond to skeptics who say there must be some biological or physiological basis for that kind of experience, which you say in the book is medically inexplicable?

There have been over 20 alternative, skeptical "explanations" for near-death experience. The reason is very clear: no one or several skeptical explanations make sense, even to the skeptics themselves. Or [else ]there wouldn't be so many.

You say this research has affected you a lot on a personal level. How?

I'm a physician who fights cancer. In spite of our best efforts, not everybody is going to be cured. My absolute understanding that there is an afterlife for all of us — and a wonderful afterlife — helps me face cancer, this terribly frightening and threatening disease, with more courage than I've ever faced it with before. I can be a better physician for my patients.

Gary Craig and the Emotional Freedom Technique: releases from painful memories, psychological stress, negative emotions, etc.

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a Self-Hypnosis/Acupressure technique for releasing negative feelings and beliefs.

Invented by Gary Craig, Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) involves tapping various Meridian points on your body, to unblock stuck energy. (See Craig's book The EFT Manual for more information on the practical applications of this technique)

I've been reading about this technique for the past year and I don't have a definite opinion about it. Anecdotal evidence suggest this works in some cases, but I'm not sure if it's actually caused by the actual properties of this technique, or by other factors.

Anyway, check these videos and see if these techniques work for you:
